Jakarta –
If you see clusters bintang To the naked eye, of course there are lots of stars that seem very similar to each other. However, there are actually stars that appear in different colors.
Most stars appear white, some red and some blue. These colors depict information about temperature and time. Reported detikINET from Space, blue stars have the hottest temperatures and the greatest masses which makes them appear the brightest.
Blue Stars Are Short-Lived Due to Heat
However, the actual composition of each star remains the same, namely 75% hydrogen, 24% helium and several other elements. However, blue stars have more massive activity and a higher luminous capacity.
The blue color of stars is also caused by the very high temperatures in various blue stars. This means that they are very massive, emitting a lot of energy into space which will eventually burn up the star itself. As a result, blue stars usually have short lives.
Scientists say that virtually all the stars that can be seen today are stars that are in the first phase of their evolutionary sequence. In this phase, the stars convert hydrogen into helium through nuclear fusion. How long the stars are in this phase depends on the star’s mass.
Therefore, blue stars are stars that burn ‘themselves’ faster than other stars. The energy emitted by the blue star is estimated to be 60,000 times more than the sun.
The Most Famous Blue Star
In the universe, there are three most famous blue stars. First is Regulius which is in the constellation Leo, second is the star Spica which is in the constellation Virgo and then the star Rigel which is in the constellation Orion is the brightest.
The Regulus star is 79 light years from Earth, the Spica star is 250 light years from Earth and the Rigel star is 860 light years from Earth.
