The relationship between diabetes and headaches
In this regard, Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Murr, internal medicine consultant at Zagazig University Hospitals, said that maintaining a balance in blood sugar levels is extremely important for diabetics, because its disorder causes an annoying set of symptoms, such as headaches.
Al-Murr added that high blood sugar may lead to narrowing or blockage of the arteries supplying the brain in the long term, which reduces the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain tissues, which then causes headaches and increases the risk of stroke.

The internal medicine consultant explained that headaches in diabetics may be caused by low blood sugar, especially if they are accompanied by some symptoms, which may develop into a coma. To view them, click here.
He pointed out the possibility that headaches in diabetics may be a warning sign of high blood pressure, stressing the need to measure it immediately after feeling headaches.
Al-Murr concluded his speech by saying: “If it is proven that the headache is caused by high blood pressure, the diabetic patient must consult a doctor, so that he can prescribe the appropriate medication to reduce it to the normal level.”
