Coronavirus variants continue to appear every now and then, especially as winter approaches. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced a new coronavirus variant called JN.1, which caught the attention of health experts and sparked a new wave of anxiety among everyone.

So what is the new Corona variant JN.1? According to the Times of India website, JN.1 is a mutant version of BA.2.86. It contains a total of 20 mutations of the spike protein, which was a major concern when it was first discovered because this protein is what the virus uses to attach to host cells. JN.1 is said to have one difference from BA.2.86.

The Centers for Disease Control in the United States confirmed that the JN.1 variant is less than 0.1% of coronavirus cases in the United States at the present time.

JN.1 was first discovered in September 2023 in the United States and has been discovered in 11 other countries. So far, no new symptoms associated with infection due to JN.1 have appeared. Caution must be taken about signs such as sore throat, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. .
