SURABAYA, BANGSAONLINE.com – The kidneys which function for detoxification can be affected by the growth of cysts and cancer. Malignant kidney cancer can spread to various tissues and other vital organs in the human body.

Dr. Lukman Hakim, Sp.U, MARS, Ph.D(K) as Scientific Coordinator of the Indonesian Association of Urologists said that cysts can grow in large numbers in both kidneys. Cysts can even grow in other organs, such as the pancreas, liver, and others.

“So, if kidney cysts occur simultaneously in the liver or other organs, and the contents are water, not solid, then kidney cysts are a genetic condition. However, most of them are not cancer,” explained Dr. Lukman.

There is a difference between kidney cancer and kidney cysts in terms of density and the nature that affects our body.

Kidney cancer is a solid lump that grows in the kidney. Meanwhile, kidney cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can grow in the kidneys.

In general, kidney cysts are benign, different from kidney cancer.

“Kidney cysts are generally benign, there’s no need to do anything about them. So, cysts are lumps that are filled with water, not solid,” he explained.
