Understanding the Chaos of Charging Card Providers and Transaction Costs

> But with a credit or debit card you pay the same rate everywhere
With my shell recharge card I also pay the same rate everywhere.
There are transaction costs, but no subscription fee. But there is a maximum on the transaction costs. At banks this is also the case with debit and credit cards. (Transaction costs are more common for business accounts)

By the way, I agree that it is chaos. Each charging station has its own rate (which you do not pay with every charging card provider) that is only stated in an app. It is very difficult to obtain that data yourself, as you have to have all kinds of different apps.

I know people who have 5-7 different charging cards to save a few euros per month.
But I also know people who have 5-7 different credit cards. Online purchases on one card for points and cashback, holidays and flights on another for airline miles and I don’t know what else.

I would prefer plug & charge. That you don’t need a card and that you simply plug in your car and the car and the charging station communicate themselves, you can then program your charging card digitally in your car.
I think there are already several brands (I know BMW) that already do this with some charging stations.
