Um… what does skin oil actually do?
To get straight to the point: all vegetable skin oils prevent moisture from escaping. They also inhibit inflammation and bacteria, and help heal wounds. In addition, heavier and lighter oils have specific properties that make them suitable for certain skin types.
For more flexibility: olive, almond and more
Heavier oils are called that because they feel slightly thicker. Think of olive oil, almond oil, avocado oil, camellia oil and hazelnut oil. They remain on the skin a little longer than lighter oils. As a result, they give your skin suppleness and are perfect for preventing moisture loss. Moreover, they are ideal for giving your body a nice massage.
Long shelf life (in the dark)
Heavier oils contain relatively many saturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids. They react less quickly with oxygen. In plain language: they don’t go rancid quickly. You can therefore simply store them at room temperature, preferably in the dark.
Eczema or irritation? Lighter skin oil
Light oils go a little deeper into your skin. Ideal if you suffer from eczema, or if your skin is damaged or irritated. In addition, they help the ceramides and thus the protective layer of your skin.
