You may have noticed that small, colored dots occasionally appear at the top of your iPhone screen, near the front-facing camera lens. But few people know what they mean.
iPhone models have built-in warning signals for violations of your privacy, which can alert users that their security may be at risk. Also known as Apple status bar icons, there are three colored ‘dots’ that appear at the top of the phone screen.
The blue dot with a white arrow inside it pointing to the right is the ultimate point of attention. Appears when an app is trying to access your location.
The orange dot, which can also appear in yellow, means that your device’s microphone is currently in use.
A green dot that is the same size and shape as the orange dot means your camera is currently being used by an app.
This should not be confused with the blue dot that can appear next to apps on your phone’s home screen. It just means an app has been updated recently and is nothing to worry about.
If one of these dots appears but you don’t expect an app to use your camera, microphone, or location services, it may be cause for concern. You can check which app is using these features by entering your phone’s Control Center and using the dot icon at the top.
