Understanding HIV-AIDS in Indonesia: Transmission, Prevention, and Treatment

XNEWS.ID – Even though it has long been detected in Indonesia, there are still many people who do not understand about HIV-AIDS. Information about transmission methods, prevention, treatment, and various basic information about HIVAIDS needs to continue to be developed.

This was stated by Akbar Prayuda, Chief Executive of the 2023 Community Transformation Conference (CTC) or #CTC2023 in Surabaya, Friday (10/11).

The government stated that the first case of HIV-AIDS was detected in Indonesia in 1987. That was more than thirty years ago. “But in reality, many of the general public still don’t understand about HIV-AIDS,” he said on the sidelines of the closing of the #CTC2023 event.

As is known, the Indonesian Ministry of Health reported that since it was first discovered in 1987, the cumulative number of HIV and AIDS cases as of March 2023 in Indonesia has reached 522,687 cases. The report also stated that 507 of the 514 districts/cities in Indonesia had reported cases of HIV and AIDS.
