Dealing with elderly people with dementia is a profession in itself. Hugo de Graaf takes you into the special world of dementia where understanding and connection are central.

Since 2003, Hugo de Graaf has been active as an activity supervisor in the care of elderly people with dementia. With various tools from improvisation theater and his experience as an activity supervisor, Hugo, like the type of peddler Job, visits elderly people with dementia in care and nursing homes. Fully packed and ready, he evokes the image of a peddler, a merchant who used to come door to door. This nostalgic image awakens warm memories among the pre-war generation.
When contacting elderly people with dementia, it is important to look at the person and their life history. We often fail to realize that older people grew up in a very different time than today. Everything was different! By getting to know their past, we can often better understand older people with dementia. As a knowledge sharer, Hugo takes you into the special world of dementia; what if the brain no longer functions properly. He explores ways in which we can be meaningful, so that elderly people with dementia continue to experience life as meaningful. How can you connect the present with the past and how do you make contact in which you still find each other.
