Although usually not life-threatening, atrial fibrillation is a serious medical condition that sometimes requires emergency treatment to prevent serious complications.

Please note, atrial fibrillation occurs due to disturbances in the conduction of electrical signals in the heart muscle.

As a result, the heart rate becomes abnormal so that it does not pump blood optimally throughout the body.

Dr. Ignatius Yansen said that atrial fibrillation can be treated by cardiac ablation, namely with catheter ablation and cryoablation.

This catheter ablation is a non-surgical procedure to correct abnormal electrical activity in the heart by sending radiofrequency through the catheter.

The catheter will deliver electrical energy to correct heart rhythm disturbances, because in atrial fibrillation the heart rhythm is disturbed.

Meanwhile, Cryoablation is another procedure for treating atrial fibrillation using a cold balloon.

The cold balloon will be inserted into the pulmonary blood vessels, then cooled to minus 50 degrees.
