The herpes virus is a common infection that causes painful blisters or even sores. It is usually transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. The symptoms of herpes can be treated, but you will not be able to completely get rid of it.
What you can and cannot do if an affected area of skin occurs, told аif.ru infectious disease doctor, candidate of medical sciences Andrey Pozdnyakov.
What is herpes like?
There are two main types of herpes virus. The first is labial, rashes on the face. According to WHO estimates, about 3.7 billion people on the planet under the age of 50 (67%) are infected with it. The other type is genital, which affects the genitals.
Advanced forms of both infections can lead to damage to the skin and mucous membranes, which are often complicated by secondary infection. This may be accompanied by pain or fever.
You will also have to use antibacterial and antiviral therapy.
How to prevent complications?
The doctor prohibits scratching, picking or deliberately damaging the affected area of skin, as this can introduce another infection into the wound. The blister on the skin will pass without a trace, but a secondary infection can lead to deeper damage.
The same thing happens with the herpes virus type 3, better known as chickenpox. Uncomplicated, it goes away without a trace, but if suppuration occurs, a scar may remain.
Herpes is “activated” due to decreased immunity, the infectious disease specialist emphasizes. Therefore, it often appears after infections, under the influence of extreme cold or overheating.
How can you completely cure herpes?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to get rid of the herpes virus.

It remains in the body, hiding where the immune system is powerless. So, the first type of virus “hides” in the trigeminal nerve. There are protective antibodies in a person’s blood, and they can suppress the virus, but no more.
When the immune response decreases, the virus enters the bloodstream and can cause pathology. But then the immune system usually kicks in and “drives” it back.
In cases where a person has severe immunodeficiency, the herpes virus can cause illness or even death. Therefore, it is very dangerous for people with HIV or cancer.
How to avoid “sores”?
It is not possible to prevent herpes infection, since it is diagnosed in the vast majority of the world’s population.

A person becomes infected with it in early childhood, for example, from parents through airborne droplets. Exacerbation can be prevented. To do this, the doctor advises maintaining immunity – eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep and being less nervous.
