According to Olga Lisenkova, short-term hand tremors are familiar to most people. It can appear under stress, cold, hunger, after significant physical activity or a sleepless night.

– This tremor goes away on its own. The most common causes of constant arm movement in adults are essential tremor, drug tremor, and Parkinson’s disease. The first type is hereditary. It can appear in young and old people. Intensifies with excitement and movement. Interferes with everyday life, for example, tying shoelaces, zipping, or eating. It is usually symmetrical, meaning it affects both hands. The head may also tremble, explained Olga Lisenkova.

In Parkinson’s disease, the doctor noted, trembling usually occurs at rest and in a relaxed state, but decreases with active movements. It always starts on one side, but over time it can become bilateral. Drug tremor acts as a side effect during treatment with neuroleptics and anticonvulsants.

“The basis for diagnosing any type of tremor is examination and questioning,” explained Olga Lisenkova. – Additionally, the doctor may recommend an MRI of the brain and blood tests. It would be best to consult a parkinsonologist. Since it is this specialist who understands the causes of tremor best. If this is not possible, start with a visit to a neurologist. Treatment is possible with medication and surgery.

The doctor also explained that to prevent hand tremors, it is necessary to adhere to the following recommendations: avoid stress, anxiety, get rid of bad habits, maintain a work and rest schedule, which must include 8 hours of sleep at night, eat right, exercise, monitor blood pressure readings .
