Specialists in neurology have identified the fact that Alzheimer’s can evolve in three stages. The initial stage is the one in which the main symptom is memory loss. Manifestations at this stage involve forgetting names, recent conversations, difficulties in having a dialogue, difficulties in making decisions or losing things.
The middle stage lasts between 2 and 10 years, and the manifestations involve worsening memory problems, increased confusion, the appearance of repetitive or impulsive behaviors, the onset of paranoid states, the appearance of hallucinations, sleep disorders, rapid mood changes and difficulties in carrying out daily tasks.
The final stage in Alzheimer’s disease involves severe manifestations that will significantly affect the life of the patient and the family. Behavioral disorders, difficulty moving without external help, swallowing difficulties, urinary or intestinal incontinence, and major memory problems are among the manifestations in the final stage of Alzheimer’s disease.
