Underground Tunnels Discovered in Brooklyn Synagogue Headquarters Causing Clashes and Arrests

The discovery caused a stir on social networks. Secret illegally dug tunnels have been discovered in the Brooklyn borough of New York. The underground tunnel, built by Hasidic Jews, is located under the headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch community.

A discovery that has caused a lot of ink to flow. That of a real tunnel built illegally by Hasidic Jews. The structure is 6 meters wide and connects the synagogue at 770 Eastern Parkway, headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, to a building of former women’s baths, in the same neighborhood, in Brooklyn. The reasons for such construction still remain unknown.

A surprising discovery for Rabbi Braun. From then on, he decided to plug this tunnel so as not to risk causing the structure of the synagogue to collapse. But, on Monday January 8, when the work was to begin, several young people came forward to prevent the tunnel from being blocked without making known the reasons for their demands.

Several arrests after clashes between police and young people

In addition to blocking the construction team which was to close the tunnel, the young people armed themselves with hammers to open another passage leading to the underground. The police intervene before a clash breaks out between the two parties.

No less than ten people were arrested for obstructing the administration and disturbing public order. Inspectors continue to investigate to verify that the building structure is not in danger as a result of this illegally constructed tunnel.

A story that provokes a lot of reaction on social networks

Internet users on various social networks quickly reacted to his discoveries, especially since several videos are available to illustrate the events. Many conspiracy theories have even surfaced.

But, far from any speculation, consistent sources report that the reason for such a project simply stems from an internal conflict 30 years old. This disagreement would then have led to a desire to expand the synagogue. Rabbi Motti Seligson, spokesperson for the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, described the authors of this tunnel as a small group of “extremist students”.
