Undergraduate Surgery Student Limits During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Objective:

Know the limitations students have encountered in their undergraduate surgery course during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Method:

Through an online questionnaire, students were asked to evaluate the surgery degree course, the limits encountered during the course, both those perceived by themselves and the limits they perceived in the teachers. Questions were asked about the overall evaluation of the surgical course and the clinical part of the course.

Results:

Sixty-three surgery students were included. The most cited limitations of the students were the availability of timetable and teaching materials. The most cited limitation in relation to teachers was the lack of technical knowledge. A relationship was found between course evaluation and teacher-student interaction.

Conclusions:

Medical education has undergone great changes, especially the clinical part. There are several limits in this process that can be improved by teachers and students and the perception of the quality of the course is related to the degree of interaction that teachers have had with students.
