The minor boy from Groningen who was arrested for assaulting Thierry Baudet was still in custody on Wednesday morning. It is still unclear how long he will remain in custody, according to a police spokesperson.
The leader of Forum for Democracy was hit on the head with a bottle in a Groningen cafe on Monday. Baudet had to go to the hospital and was able to go home after treatment.
The police arrested an underage boy shortly after the incident. The police do not want to say how old the suspect is. Various media previously wrote that it was a fifteen-year-old boy.
It AD previously reported that the anti-fascist group AFA Noord claims that the arrested person belongs to this extreme left movement.

Baudet after assault in Groningen: ‘Security was increased’
Baudet’s security had already been heavily increased
Baudet responded to the incident for the first time at a press conference on Tuesday. There he said he would continue as leader of his party: “We will not bow to this.”
According to doctors, Baudet was “very lucky”, the politician said at the press conference. He sees the attack as a political attack.
The FVD party leader was also attacked in Ghent a few weeks ago. Since then, his security has been heavily increased. Baudet does not blame the security after the attack in Groningen, but will talk to the security services.
“We are working very hard behind the scenes to analyze how this could happen for the second time and what we are going to do about it,” he said on Tuesday.
