under what conditions can the Sluc Nancy Basket go back to Pro A

Nancy basketball players have their destiny in hand on the last day of the regular season. If they win this Friday, May 13, 2022 against Chalon-sur-Saône, they will automatically be promoted to Pro A. But other scenarios would allow them to join the elite.

Five years after his relegation to Pro B, the Sluc Nancy Basket has a golden opportunity to return to the elite. On the last day of the regular season, the people of Nancy host Chalon-sur-Saône, this Friday, May 13, 2022. In the event of victory, they will be crowned champions of France and automatically promoted to Pro A.

In the standings, Nancy has the same number of wins (25) as co-leader Saint-Chamond. But the Cougars are ahead thanks to their success in direct confrontations between the two teams. However, only the first place offers a ticket for the Pro A.

Here are the possible scenarios of the evening:

  • Nancy gagne: Nancy monte en Pro A
  • Nancy loses and Saint-Chamond loses: Nancy goes up to Pro A
  • Nancy loses and Saint-Chamond wins: Saint-Chamond goes up to Pro A

The surprising team from Saint-Chamond is traveling this evening to Alliance Sport Alsace (ASA), currently 9th in the standings and which can still claim qualification in the play-off.

The Sluc will play him in a sports hall in Gentilly full as an egg (the 6,000 places left in a few hours), facing a formation from Chalon-sur-Saône in crisis. Despite its budget and its XXL workforce, the Burgundy club is only seventh and remains on three consecutive losses.

If ever this Friday the 13th brought them bad luck, the Nancy would have a second chance to join the elite: to win the play-offs. These final phases will bring together the teams ranked from second to ninth place for quarter-finals, semi-finals and then a final. At each round, the winner will be determined by the best of the three rounds.

In the quarter-finals, the Sluc would meet the ninth in the standings. Thanks to his second place, he would benefit from the advantage of the field until the final, in other words he would play the first match at home as well as a possible support match. A non-negligible advantage, but the play-offs remain a competition full of surprises.

The Nancy would therefore be well advised to avoid them and go straight to the point, by signing a thirteenth consecutive success tonight which would deliver the club and all its supporters.
