A man caused a traffic accident with an allegedly stolen car in Berlin-Tiergarten – under drugs and without a driver’s license. The 21-year-old was injured on Sunday night, the police said. The young man therefore stated that he had started the unlocked parked car with a key that was in the vehicle. He then drove into a stopped car. Inside was a 21-year-old driver and his 27-year-old companion. The suspected car thief sustained injuries to his torso and leg in the impact.
According to the two other people involved in the accident, the 21-year-old wanted to leave the scene of the accident. The two uninjured men held him until the police and rescue workers arrived.
The suspected car thief was taken to a hospital. Blood was drawn from him because he said he had taken drugs. It also turned out that he did not have a driver’s license. The car was secured. Investigations are underway against the 21-year-old for theft, driving without a license and under the influence of intoxicants, as well as attempted escape and the traffic accident. (dpa)
