Under construction, the final section of the Trans Java toll road will begin operations at the end of 2024

Construction of the final section Trans Java Toll Road ie Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road ongoing. The plan is that several sections will be operational by the end of 2024.

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk Business Development Director Agus Setiawan explained that construction of the toll road project had started from Probolinggo to Besuki with a length of 50 km which was divided into 3 sections. He said that Section 1 and Section 2, which are 35 km long, are planned to be operational by the end of next year.

“Currently construction is underway and it is hoped that Sections 1 and 2, which are approximately 35 km long, will be operational by the end of 2024,” he said at the Pubex Live 2023 event, Monday (27/11/2023).

Meanwhile, Section 3 is planned to be completed in early 2025. Agus said that 30% of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll investment comes from shareholders or equity.

“While 70% is obtained through banking loans,” he said.

As reported on the official website of the Central Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the PUPR Ministry, Monday (25/9), the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road is part of the Trans Java Toll Network which will connect the western tip to the eastern tip of Java Island.

The Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road consists of 2 stages of construction implementation. For phase 1, it is divided into Section 1 Gending-Kraksaan (12.88 km) with construction progress of 15.01%, Section 2 Kraksaan-Paiton (11.20 km) with construction progress of 2.61%, and Section 3 Paiton- Besuki (25.6 km) with construction progress of 0.65%.

“Overall, Phase 1 of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road, which consists of 3 sections, is targeted to complete construction in December 2024,” wrote BPJT.

Meanwhile, for the construction progress of phase 2 of the 126.72 km Besuki-Banyuwangi section, construction is targeted to be completed after 2024. This road consists of Section 4 Besuki-Situbondo (43.30 km), Section 5 Situbondo-Asembagus (16.76 km) , Section 6 Asembagus-Bajulmati (37.45 km) and Section 7 Bajulmati-Ketapang (29.21 km).
