Clothing chain Scotch & Soda will be owned by the American company Bluestar Alliance. The Dutch part of the fashion brand went bankrupt last week, but can now make a new start under American wings.
The retail chain ran into problems during the corona pandemic due to the lockdowns. Once the contact restrictions were over, the company was unable to recover. This was partly due to rising energy prices and high inflation.
That is why Scotch & Soda filed for bankruptcy on March 20. At that time, the chain had 32 stores and about 800 employees.
After the bankruptcy, the trustee immediately started looking for a new owner. The chain is now in the hands of Bluestar Alliance, which already owns retail chain Hurley, among others.
According to curator Jasper Berkenbosch, “a fairly large group of employees” keep their jobs. Scotch & Soda will continue to be active in a number of countries, including the Netherlands.
