If you’re still reeling from the trauma surrounding Pluto’s downgrade from planet to dwarf planet, you may want to proceed with caution. In today’s cosmic news, a dedicated group of researchers are devoting their time and resources to uncovering the truth about Planet X – possibly the ninth planet in the Kuiper Belt.
New research shows that what is thought to be the ninth planet in our solar system is actually a huge pile of extraterrestrial debris.
While there hasn’t been a back-and-forth mentality in terms of how experts view space mysteries over the years, a research paper recently published in MNRAS message He investigated the latest theories surrounding the anomaly, believing it to be basically giant space junk.
In their findings, the researchers say Planet X may just be a collection of space junk that intertwined billions of years ago to form what appears to be a planet.
This theory is far more compelling than centuries ago which suggested that another planet was to blame for the intense gravitational pulls that fell on Neptune and Uranus, but it could be a big step in uncovering the truth behind the so-called. Planet X
Where is Planet X located?
Confusing those in the scientific community for over 100 years, and causing controversy over its existence, Planet X is now believed to be suspended in the Oort Cloud rather than its original location in the Kuiper Belt.
Known as the spherical region that surrounds our solar system, the Oort Cloud is a place where icy bodies are tormented – gravitationally trapped where they stay forever. In this cloud of debris, the scientists behind the new article theorize the emergence of Planet X.
According to the researchers, there is also the possibility that Planet X is a planet from another solar system that managed to suck itself into the Oort Cloud, trapped forever. Currently, it’s not very clear what the correct answer is, and even these scientists admit that it could be because there is no correct theory.
While the chance of the sun sending a planet into the Oort cloud is 50 percent, there is only a 7 percent chance that the pull of the cloud could trap a Neptune-sized planet in its cloud.
There is also the possibility that Planet X is a planet from another solar system that managed to absorb itself into the Oort Cloud.
It’s been an exciting few weeks into space exploration as NASA has revealed a major step forward for astronauts by creating a way to convert urine and sweat into water – enabling space explorers to go on longer expeditions.
And while Planet X is the focus of today’s article, Mars is also making headlines because scientists think there’s a chance water could reach the Red Planet – even if that means in a few (billion) years.
As for the truth behind Planet X, much remains to be discovered to determine exactly what that object is and how it got to the Oort Cloud. Given its location and our involvement in other activities, it seems unlikely that close exploration will be undertaken in the near future.
