It turns out that the legendary hero Nikolai Romanov was called Mauritius. It is immediately clear that the character is not a simple Soviet man, but a mysterious and dark person. The name itself comes from the word “Moor”.
The chief led a double life, among other things. So, in the film there is a scene in a restaurant where the Chef is walking at a corporate party with his team. He worked at the enterprise to look like a respectable citizen.
Also, the film does not mention the nicknames of Lelik and Kozodoev – they can be seen in the same script. The hero Anatoly Papanov was called the Mechanic, and Andrei Mironov was called the Count. In addition, a certain Kid is mentioned in the script, but this hero did not get into the picture itself. Why Leonid Gaidai decided not to voice the name of Mauritius and the nicknames of the crooks is unknown.
