The suspect is the perpetrator shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, United States of America finally revealed his identity to the public. Police said the 21-year-old was known as Ahmad Alissa.
“This suspect has been identified as Ahmad Alissa aged 21,” Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold told a news conference. AFP, Wednesday (24/3/2021).
Ahmad Alissa is known to live in the suburbs of Denver, a city close to Boulder. Men of descent Syria it lived most of its life in the United States.
According to US media, quoting from an unverified Facebook account in her name, Alissa was born in 1999 in Syria and moved to the US in 2002. From that Facebook, Alissa is known as a fan of martial arts and wrestling, she also often makes posts about Islam, criticism of former president Donald Trump, and some messages about homophobia.
An article written by the online magazine The Daily Beast, in an interview with Alissa’s sister, Ali, described her brother as ‘paranoid’ and ‘antisocial’. While Ali also sympathized with the victims shooting.
“While he was having lunch with my sister at a restaurant, he said, ‘People in the parking lot, they’re looking for me.’ “He’s out, and there’s nobody. We don’t know what’s in his head,” Ali said.
It is known that a mass shooting took place at a supermarket called King Soopers in Table Mesa, Boulder, on Monday (22/3) afternoon, at around 3:00 p.m. local time.
The police have yet to reveal the motive behind the deadly shooting incident in Colorado. Prison officials at Boulder said the suspect was well enough to be taken to prison.
US media reported that the weapon used by Alisa was similar to the military AR-15 weapon.
