Uncontrollable Parents of Young Lebanese, Burning Season in Zemgale- The Criminal Province, and Insane Russian Music on Jomas Street

A month after the opening of this season’s burning of bales, they finally “caught up” with Zemgalians, who allowed the flames of last year’s grass in Jelgava. On the Belarusian border – Piedruja, the border guards fished out a homemade raft with 139,600 contraband cigarettes from the Daugava. But on the Jēkabpils side, on the Dignāja side, the police officers, with the help of an honest hunter, arrested three poachers who had shot a pregnant red deer cow.

Jurmalnieks are crazy about Russian music

Valters Bergs, an independent member of the Riga City Council (elected from the New Conservative Party), will appeal to the Jūrmala municipal police on the social network “Facebook”: “A request to prevent unlicensed playing of Russian-language music at Jomas iela 84”.

Internet users have also been angered by the “loud advertisement” of the photo dealer, which stuns the main promenade of the resort town:

Kristaps Sietiņš: “What does it look like for some immigrants in a foreign country to loudly play obscene music in the Rashist language… The least obscene…”

Elita Kalniņa: “Where…in the city of Jūrmala there is only one music – the sound of coins”.

Aiga Gulbe: “But what to do if in the neighborhood regularly (on weekday evenings, all day on holidays) there are motorists’ entertainment with loud exhaust and engine noise, moreover, in an area managed by the municipality, where it is forbidden to enter? The police do not respond to calls because there are no crews!!!”

The motorized parents of Livani children anger the municipality

The Līvāni County Council reprimanded the parents of urban children who take their children to the “Rūkiši” kindergarten by car: “Please parents who take their children to the preschool educational institution “Rūkiši”, do not park the car in front of the gate! This complicates the work of operational transport and food delivery of goods to the institution. If food suppliers can still wait for the car owner to arrive, every minute counts for emergency transport. We will be responsible to each other!”

This post of the municipality has gained a wide resonance in the social network “Facebook”, where many, many comments can be read about it. Here are some:

Jegana Nadzafova: “Opposite the “Rūkiši” garden, there are old, unfinished five-story houses. There is also an old collapsed five-story house on Sporta Street. If they were to be demolished, there would be a wide area for the creation of a parking lot, and it would also be more beautiful from a purely aesthetic point of view than the rubble, which, moreover, is collapsing more and more every year, endangering the residents. Teenagers are lurking there, it’s long past time to demolish it”.

Victoria Minin: “The parking lot at the “Rūkiši” kindergarten is ridiculously small! You have to put the car either in the middle of the road or take a place in someone else’s yard! Before you teach your parents, do something about it yourself. I’m sorry, I’m sorry… But when I have to take my child to kindergarten quickly to get to work, I won’t care where I park the car to get everything done so quickly!”

Roland Iraid: “Highly respected parents and dissenters! I am truly grateful that you find time to express your unique opinion on the Internet, but if you want to improve something in the city, then you have to do something a little more. If there is a problem that needs to be solved, then we can start with a submission to the council. If someone would undertake to write such submissions and offer their solution, I would be one of the people who would gladly sign such a submission! It is also possible to attract city oppositionists, especially people who film near the machines and pre-election posters. They could also film at the parking lot of the kindergarten – perhaps the effect would be greater! How do you like the idea?”

Kristine Lace: “I’m sorry, but where do you put those cars to pick up a child or take a child to kindergarten or school! It is not done deliberately if there are free spaces!”

With a month’s delay, Zemgale has joined the marathon of burning spring bales. If this year the first kula fire was extinguished in Pieriga – on February 15 in Salaspils parish, then in Zemgale exactly one month later. On March 15, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) extinguished this year’s first pile fire in Jelgava, and it is the first pile fire registered in Zemgale this year.

On Wednesday at half-past six in the evening, an eight-square-meter fire was burning on Tērvetes Street in Jelgava. The city municipality emphasizes once again on its website:

“Kula burning is prohibited and dangerous, as it threatens the environment, property, people’s health and life, besides, burning a kula can be punished.

As a result of burning kula, vast areas, forests, people’s property are destroyed, and people’s health and life can also be endangered. If the first bushfires usually occur in small areas, then with the onset of drier weather, they become larger and larger, the flames often take over new growth and forests as well. If a new one grows in place of the burnt grass, then it takes decades to restore the burnt forest”.

According to the Law on Administrative Liability, a fine of between 280 and 700 euros can be applied to natural persons for burning firewood.

With the help of a hunter, on Sunday morning of last week, three poachers were arrested in a remote area of Dignāja Parish. (Photo: State Police)

On Sunday of last week, March 12, thanks to an observant resident, three poachers were arrested in Dignāja parish of Jēkabpils region. The State Police informs:

“Three men have been arrested on suspicion of illegal hunting in the so-called non-contracted territory in Dignāja Parish. During this hunt, a pregnant red deer cow was hunted, which is prohibited to hunt at this time. The possible perpetrators of illegal hunting were arrested immediately after the event thanks to the initiative of the local residents, who delayed the hunters caught at the scene, preventing them from leaving until the arrival of the law enforcement officers. Criminal proceedings have been initiated at the East Zemgale station of the Zemgale regional administration of the State Police”.

On March 12, around 6:30 a.m., when a local resident heard a gunshot in a nearby rural area, which is the so-called no-treaty area and where hunting is not allowed, she became suspicious of possible poachers. Being a hunter herself, the woman went to look at the nearby area and her suspicions were confirmed when she noticed a shot of a red deer cow, which is prohibited to hunt during this period.

The State Forestry Service and officials of the Eastern Zemgale precinct of the State Police Zemgale regional administration were immediately informed about the detected violation, at the same time the caller stayed near the scene until the arrival of the law enforcement officers and observed whether someone would soon come after hunting. In about 20 minutes, shortly before 7.00, three men arrived at the scene, drove up in a vehicle and loaded the game into it to take with them. In the meantime, the woman’s acquaintances blocked the driveway, thereby delaying the illegal hunters and preventing them from leaving the scene.

Explaining the circumstances of the incident, according to preliminary information, the detained men were hunting in the territory, which was considered to be a territory allowed for hunting, while testifying that they thought they had shot a red deer calf, which is also indicated by the hunting permit (harnesser) affixed to the animal’s body at the hunting site. However, a closer look at the game shows that the animal was an adult red deer cow, which also contained a new embryo and is currently prohibited from hunting.

Regarding the incident, the State Police has initiated criminal proceedings according to the second part of Article 112 of the Criminal Law on illegal hunting, if it was committed by a group of persons after prior agreement, or if it was committed in a specially protected natural area, or if it caused significant damage. Such a violation is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a period of up to two years or by temporary deprivation of liberty, or by probation supervision, or by community service, or by a fine.

Officials of the Zemgale regional administration of the State Police thank the local residents who reported suspicions and delayed the perpetrators of illegal hunting until the arrival of the law enforcement officers.
