Unconscious after a header duel? Worry about RB Leipzig loan from Tom Krauss!

In the cup duel between 1. FC Nürnberg against Hamburger SV, football suddenly became a minor matter in the second half when Tom Krauss was injured.

Nürnberg – Shock moment on Tuesday evening in the Max Morlock Stadium! RB Leipzig Loan player Tom Krauss (20), who is currently kicking very successfully for 1. FC Nürnberg, rushed right at the beginning of the second half DFB Cup game against the Hamburger SV with opponent Miro Muheim (23) together. The 20-year-old then remained motionless.

Both players wanted to use a header from midfield immediately after the restart. The result was a head collision that was visually extremely painful. Muheim was able to continue playing after a short treatment phase. With Krauss the whole thing looked different.

The 20-year-old fell to the ground like a wet sack and was able to briefly raise his arm to call the supervisor. After that he remained motionless on the floor, even seemed to have been passed out for a short time.

The Nürnberger quickly formed a circle around their offensive man. The scenes were somewhat reminiscent of the dramatic events surrounding Denmark star Christian Eriksen (29), who had suffered cardiac arrest at the European Championships.

Fortunately, it didn’t get that bad for Krauss. After a very long treatment phase, the midfielder was finally carried off the pitch. He showed a thumbs up in the direction of the fans with his left hand – a good sign!

In the meantime, Krauss also posted on his Instagram profilethat he is “fine”.

“We are in contact with Tom. He is conscious and remains in the hospital for a check-up,” said Nuremberg coach Robert Klauss (36) after the game. That his team ended up with 2-4 on penalties flew out of the tournament, it was almost a minor matter.

Already in the first half a player had to be carried off the pitch with screams of pain. Krauss, who was later injured, got HSV player Tim Leibold (27) off his feet in the first half.

The 27-year-old held his knee – an exact diagnosis was still pending. Klauß: “Get well soon to Tim Leibold too. It sucks that something like this happens!”
