After we published an article about an overcrowded Czech Railways train from Brno to Prague, several readers contacted our editorial office with a similar experience. And although České dráhy claims that it was an extraordinary situation, according to the reactions of people who travel by trains every day, it looks more like an uncomfortable standard.
A reader has now contacted us with an unpleasant experience with Czech Railways. Her friend was traveling on the EC 172 express train from Prague to Dresden. After the weekend spent in the metropolis, he was returning home to Germany. According to his own words, he will not forget the trip for a long time.
At the outset, let’s mention that the man has health problems. In addition to a diseased heart, he suffers from diabetes and walking problems. Prolonged standing causes him considerable pain.
When he bought a ticket, he reserved a seat and bought a seat. But even that did not guarantee him a comfortable journey.

The sight of passengers on the Sunday express train from Brno to Pardubice with a destination in Prague at the main railway station is almost comical. But they can laugh…
You couldn’t move in the train. Not even breathing
Due to the confusion when the train changed platforms at the last minute, he had to run quickly to catch it at all. A few minutes before the scheduled departure, an announcement was lit on the information board that the connection to Dresden was leaving from the third platform.
When he found it strange that the train hadn’t arrived yet, he discovered that there had been a change. He had less than a minute to board. He finally made it. But the train was so crowded that the man was literally stuck to the door.

Although the Czech graffiti scene had its biggest boom in the nineties of the last century, spray-painted trains continue to plague the Czech Railways (ČD). As in March…
Those who were not seated stood in the aisle and it was quite impossible to pass between them.
Shortly before the start of the train, his acquaintance asked the conductor to help him find a seat, saying that he could not stand for a long time because he had a heart condition. The answer was that the guide himself would not get there either.
After about half an hour of driving, the man managed to change to another carriage, where the situation was identical. People with luggage were sitting on the ground, in the alley and on the stairs.
Pardon
Since it was the end of August, when it was hot in Prague, the air on the train was quickly exhaled. The air conditioning did not work and the man in question almost collapsed.
When the young man saw him sitting on the steps, sweating and barely standing, he offered him his place on the ground.
“I had to sit on the stairs almost the whole time, I had trouble breathing and my legs hurt,” said this sick person. He showed us how it was “put together” with the photo he sent.
Comfort in a Czech Railways train. Author: PrahaIN.cz reader
“To make matters worse, something started to smell like smoke in the exhausting train, where it was extremely hot,” the man continued. After the change of personnel on the train, he heard that there was apparently some problem with the brakes.
When he recounted the unpleasant experiences to his friends, they immediately turned to Czech Railways.
“We accept that standing passengers may have blocked your friend’s way to the reserved seat. “Unfortunately, in these cases, passengers de facto have to help themselves or have the option of turning to the train staff, who can be helpful within the possibilities of the given set and situation,” replied the national carrier.
