The Allianz Arena coach has refused to rule out taking over from Joachim Low as Germany coach.
Hansi Flick has given a vague answer regarding his future at Bayern Munich amid rumors heralding him as Germany’s future manager after the Bavarians were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday night. The reigning European champions of the season have fallen and were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain despite a 1-0 victory at Parc des Princes in the second leg of their quarter-final.

PSG won the first leg 3-2 at the Allianz Arena and qualified thanks to the away goals rule, raising more questions about Flick’s position on the Bayern sidelines as he continues to be presented as the number one candidate to replace Joachim Low at the helm of the German national team. “I have a contract with FC Bayern, but I’m still thinking about what’s going to happen or how things will continue, hopefully here and so on“the 56-year-old technician told Sky Germany.
“My family is behind me, whatever my decision, whether at Bayern or at the head of the German team“concluded Hansi Flick, who was undefeated in the Champions League in his young career before the quarter-final first leg against PSG at the Allianz Arena. Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus also spoke to Sky after the elimination of the Champions League club, expressing his belief that Flick will join Germany after the European Championship this summer.
A fate already mapped out?
“It was Hansi Flick’s last Champions League game as Bayern Munich coach“, did he declare. “He is the first choice of the German team to succeed Joachim Low. He will accept the offer this summer. “ Flick is reportedly leading the race to become Germany’s new manager ahead of a roster of several other top coaches including Jürgen Klopp, Julian Nagelsmann, Jürgen Klinsmann and Arsene Wenger.

He was previously assistant to Joachim Löw with the national team from 2006 to 2014, then leader in the German federation. Bayern are on course to win a ninth consecutive Bundesliga title as they are five points clear at the top of the table with just six games to go.
However, his relationship with his sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić has hit the headlines in recent weeks. The two men have diametrically opposed positions on the club’s transfer policy. Hansi Flick wanted to keep Alaba and Boateng, but these two players were not extended. Tense relations which only increased the rumors of the departure of Hansi Flick at the end of the season. There is no doubt that this elimination in the Champions League will hardly help matters.
