Uncertainty remains for Easyjet employees in Switzerland

The consequences of the restructuring announced by Easyjet on Thursday remain uncertain for Swiss activities. The British airline wants to consult staff in Switzerland before making a decision.

“We will launch an employee consultation process in the coming days. We cannot predict what will come of it,” an Easyjet spokesperson in Switzerland told Thursday.

The impact on Geneva Airport, Easyjet’s main site in Switzerland, remains unknown for the time being. At the end of 2019, the company represented a 44.8% market share in Cointrin.

The Easyjet group announced in the morning the abolition of 4,500 jobs, or almost a third of its workforce. She took this step to deal with the shock of the coronavirus pandemic. The low-cost airline, whose activity has been stopped for weeks, intends to preserve its finances and adapt to weaker air traffic over a long period.
