The parties involved call it a matter of waiting to see what the oil tanker will do. If the owner of the ship chooses to attempt to unload in the port of Amsterdam, it is by no means certain whether there will be a green light for this.
There are concerns at the respective terminal and nautical service providers as to whether the Sunny Liger can be handled safely. This becomes difficult when specialist port employees refuse to assist with mooring, towing or navigating.
The authorities can therefore decide in advance that there is too much risk. But before that, an application for mooring must first be submitted.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian embassy has also called on the cabinet to send the oil tanker away. “The Dutch support for Ukraine is much appreciated, but the Netherlands should not become a place for shadowy Russian oil affairs,” the ambassador said on Twitter:
