Unboxing the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
Samsung’s policy of packaging reduction has continued for some time. In addition to using recyclable cartons, the Galaxy Watch 6 packaging only includes wireless charging tray accessories in the packaging.
▲ The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is packaged in a white carton with model numbers and product images printed on the front.
▲ The internal model of the product is SM-R950, made in Vietnam.
▲ Open the box, and you can see an accessory box and the watch body inside.
▲ There is a wireless charging tray (USB-C specification) and a simple instruction manual in the accessory box.
The test machine we got is the 43mm version of the white model. There is also a 47mm version. I have worn both of them. Personally, I think 47mm is more suitable for men, whether it is the watch diameter or the length of the strap. The 43mm strap is a bit shorter, which is more suitable for female users. And its strap is made of plain leather, which is more leathery than the strap of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and it also adds real stitching to make it even more textured.
▲ The strap is made of plain leather, the silver frame is matched with a white strap, and the black frame is matched with a black strap.
▲ This is what the 43mm style looks like when worn.
▲ This is what the 47mm style looks like when worn.
▲ The strap of the GW6C adopts a quick-release button design. Just press the button on the back of the strap to quickly remove the strap.
▲ However, it is still compatible with the general 20mm strap, so there are a lot of strap accessories to choose from.
thinner solid bezel
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is made of stainless steel in the case, and it also has 5 ATM (50 meters) water resistance, so there is no problem with general swimming or diving. And it continues the previous Classic’s solid watch ring design. Last year’s Galaxy Watch 5 Pro did not have a solid watch ring, and it always felt a bit awkward to use; and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic added it back, and the healing when turning The feeling is back, and the increased bezel can also achieve the effect of protecting the screen from being scratched. In order to enlarge the screen, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic also made the physical watch ring thinner, which is 15% thinner than the previous generation, which also makes the screen ratio higher.
▲ The case of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is made of stainless steel with fine hairlines on the surface.
▲ The design of the solid watch ring can not only control the watch by turning it, but also protect the screen.
▲ Compared with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (above), the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro case is made of titanium, so the color will have a special warm tone of titanium; while the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic below uses stainless steel, which looks different style.
▲ The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (right) is thicker than the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with a solid watch ring due to the addition of a larger battery capacity.
As for the screen, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47mm model is equipped with a 1.5-inch circular Super AMOLED screen, which is larger than the previous generation’s 1.36-inch screen, mainly due to the thinner solid watch ring; the screen resolution is also changed from 450 x 450 increases to 480 x 480 pixels. In addition, the surface of the screen is also covered with sapphire glass with a relatively high hardness, so it is more durable.
▲ The physical watch ring has become thinner, so a larger 1.5-inch Super AMOLED screen can be added, which is 20% larger than the previous generation’s 1.36-inch, and the screen ratio is also higher. In addition, its screen resolution has also been increased to 480 x 480 pixels.
▲ The visibility of the screen in the sun is not bad, and there will be no problem of not being able to see the information on the screen under the sun.
▲ On the back of the watch is a series of sensors, including optical heart rate detector, ECG electrocardiogram and BIA body composition.
▲ After the first boot, the nearest Android phone will automatically display the connection pairing window.
Battery life is flat
When releasing the Galaxy Watch 6 series, Samsung once said that its battery capacity has been slightly increased. The 47mm model has a built-in 425 mAh battery. However, because the screen is also enlarged, it maintains its official battery life figure at 40 hours. And the editor tested it by himself. I turned off the AOD screen of the watch, connected it with the phone via Bluetooth, and displayed the notification sent by the phone. I did not perform any GPS motion tracking. From 100% battery usage to power off, the total It took 31 hours and 45 minutes, which means that the first morning of use, the next afternoon will probably be out of power. Although the battery life I measured is not much different from the 40 hours claimed by Samsung, it is still necessary to charge it every two days.
In addition, its processor has also been upgraded to an Exynos W930 dual-core 1.4GHz processor, the RAM capacity has also been increased from 1.5GB to 2GB, and the built-in 16GB storage space; There is a big difference between generations, but basically the overall interface is smooth.
Full Sports Tracking Capabilities
Samsung’s line of smartwatches have full-fledged activity tracking, and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is no exception. It can track 80 types of exercise, and you can also create your own exercise types that are not listed above; in addition, it has added a “heart rate zone guide” function in the running tracking function. Users can pre-set in five heart rate zones, run The watch will vibrate and display on the screen to remind you to keep in the pre-set heart rate zone to achieve the best results.
What about heart rate zones? According to research, if the heart rate is kept in different ranges during exercise, there will be different exercise effects. For example, the fat burning effect is the most obvious when the heart rate is between 100-120, the aerobic exercise is between 120-140, and the Anaerobic exercise, etc., so you can use this function to keep you in a specific heart rate zone to achieve twice the result with half the effort.
▲ 80 sports tracking modes supported by the watch.
▲ A heart rate zone guide has been added for running tracking, and one of five heart rate zones can be preset.
▲ After the heart rate zone guide is turned on, you will find that five heart rate zone patterns appear at the bottom of the computer screen for sports tracking, and there is a white dot indicating your current heart rate position. If your heart rate is too high or too low, exceeding or falling below the zone you set, the watch will vibrate and remind you from the screen to keep in the zone you set, and you know it’s time to speed up or slow down.
▲ Usually it will also record your steps, activity time and calories burned to complete the three hearts.
▲ After the motion tracking is over, sometimes challenge achievements will be unlocked.
▲ In addition, the watch will also count some values of this exercise, such as pace, heart rate, heart rate interval, maximum oxygen uptake, runner measurement indicators, sweat volume and exercise path.
▲ There is no shortage of sleep tracking functions. In addition to recording various sleep stages, it can also record sleep body temperature, snoring, etc. (The phone must be placed next to the bed to record snoring)
The UI has been slightly changed
The Galaxy Watch 6 series adopts the new Wear OS 4 operating system and is equipped with Samsung’s own One UI 5 Watch interface. This interface maintains the same operation logic as the previous Galaxy Watch models equipped with Wear OS, only in the interface presentation It’s a small change, and if you’ve been a Galaxy Watch user before, you can feel it.
▲ Press and hold the watch face to change it. In addition to many built-in watch faces, the watch can also download other third-party Wear OS watch faces through the Play Store.
▲ Turn the watch ring clockwise under the dial screen to display the “information cube” (functions like a Widget), turn the watch ring counterclockwise to display the latest notifications, and slide up on the screen to display all apps.
▲ Built-in NFC, supports Samsung Wallet mobile payment, and can also install many watch applications, such as Spotify, LINE, etc.
summary
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic shared with you today has a very textured design, a larger screen size, and more upgraded hardware specifications. The new system and interface make it feel familiar to use In addition, some new ideas have been added.
