Demonstrations against the corona measures are taking place in various places in The Hague. The demonstration was not announced in advance, police said. One person has been arrested for public assault.
The groups of demonstrators are escorted by agents to the Malieveld, which has been designated by the mayor as the location for the demonstration, reports Broadcasting West. In some places, this did not go without a struggle at first. According to the police, the riot police took action against people who did not follow the instructions. Footage shows police beating demonstrators with a baton.
According to a police spokesman, calm returned later and most demonstrators walked to Malieveld by themselves or accompanied by the police.
