UNAM Launches Free Online Language Courses in English, French, and Italian

Learning a new language requires time and money, and not everyone can afford this type of learning. Fortunately, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has just launched completely free courses for those who want to enroll in English, French or Italian.

Whether to travel, work or simply expand your knowledge, there is no doubt that mastering a second or third language opens up a world of possibilities. That is why the Maximum House of Studies implemented this course scheme that, in addition to being taught online, also has an official certification.

Learn at your own pace: This is how UNAM’s virtual language environment works

English, French and Italian courses are offered from the Virtual Language Environment (AVI) platform. They all start from the beginner level, since it is mainly aimed at those people who are interested in learning a foreign language in a short time and from the comfort of their home.

The Coordination of the Open University, Educational Innovation and Distance Education (CUAIEED) together with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Faculty of Higher Studies of Acatlán (FES) are in charge of developing and teaching the classes.

According to the institutions, in each lesson you will be able to practice the language of your choice and even evaluate yourself at different levels, based on different audiovisual materials and questionnaires that you can access at any time of the day, since the purpose is that students can Learn at your own pace.

So if you are a full-time student or already work, these courses may be a great option for you.

How to sign up for UNAM’s free language courses?

If you have already decided to take the UNAM language courses, the next step is to register. We tell you how to do it.

• First, access the platform UNAM Virtual Language Environment.
• Then, choose which language you want to learn. Remember that you only have three options: English, Spanish and French.
• Finally, select the level you want to start with: ‘Practice’ or ‘Evaluate yourself’.

Take into account that the ‘Learn’ and ‘Certify’ sections are aimed only at students from UNAM Schools and Faculties enrolled in the AVI program. While the ‘Practice’ and ‘Evaluate yourself’ options are open to the public.
