jatim.jpnn.com, SURABAYA – Rector of Universitas Airlangga Surabaya Prof. Mohammad Nasih is optimistic that the Red and White Vaccine can enter the clinical trial stage in September 2021.
Prof Nasih admits that the development of Red and White Vaccine who uses the method inactiveted virus experienced delays due to constraints on the research system and scheme.
“We had problems finding monkeys as guinea pigs. Of the 40 monkeys that the researchers collected, only five were fit for testing,” said Prof Nasih, Tuesday (27/7).
Prof. Nasih explained that the monkeys that were used as guinea pigs were first given the Red and White Vaccine, which was followed by inserting the latest type of Covid-19 virus.
The monkeys that are used as guinea pigs will be allowed to be active for one month under the supervision of the researchers.
The new Red and White vaccine test was declared successful if it was able to respond to the virus that was in the body of the guinea pig object.
Prof. Nasih does not deny that the Red and White Vaccine test will take a very long time, but he is optimistic that it can be completed in September this year.
“God willing, September has entered the first stage of clinical trials, there are no problems with animals,” he said. (mcr6/antara/jpnn)
