Paris but also Montpellier, Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes are confronted with the phenomenon of delinquency of unaccompanied minors (unaccompanied minors), also called unaccompanied foreign minors. In groups, these young people, many of whom come fromAlgeria and you Morocco, engage in theft in shops and individuals. Many are young, even very young (under 12). Some are also young adults who try to pass themselves off as minors. Confronted with this new form of delinquency which has increased over the past three years, the police are exhausted chasing these young people, who are often then released because of their minority.
A parliamentary mission is underway to assess the extent of the phenomenon and try to provide answers. The public authorities, in general, appear helpless in the face of these minors who very often refuse to be accompanied by child welfare services. And who only constitute a minority of unaccompanied foreign minors hosted in France.
What solutions can be found to get these wandering young people off the streets? How to root them out of local crime networks, taking advantage of this workforce that seeks to survive by all means? What do we think of it in their country of origin? How can we help them build their future?
In a series dedicated to them, West France especially gives a voice to these young people. Those who are still in Morocco, those who have already fallen into delinquency in France, those who are trying to get out …
