UNAB at the 2024 Environmental Education Fair and the Climate Mural

The Sustainability Department of Andrés Bello University participated with great success in the Environmental Education Fair 2024held on Wednesday, August 28 in the Plaza de la Constitución, Organized by the Seremi of Environment of the Metropolitan Region and brought together 43 exhibitors with the aim of educating and raising awareness in the community about environmental issues, focusing its activities on climate change.

UNAB stood out with the

presentation of the stand “The Climate Mural”an activity designed to educate about the causes and effects of climate change through interactive cards, which allowed attendees to understand in a visual and participatory way the human impact on the environment.

In addition, the university installed a large mural where visitors could share the actions it takes every day to reduce its carbon footprint, taking into account that, as an entity, it is committed to achieving a zero carbon footprint by 2038.

“We, as UNAB, carried out the Climate Mural, which is an activity that is done using letters that show the causes and effects of climate change and in this way we educate and raise awareness in the community. We also left a large mural where people showed the actions they took to reduce their carbon footprint,” he explained. Claudia, Head of the Sustainability Project at Andrés Bello University.

The fair was attended by important authorities, including Mauricio Fabry, head of the Department of Environment of the Government of Santiagowho highlighted the importance of this initiative. “This is an initiative of the Ministry of the Environment, in particular of the Seremi, to be able to have a special day, where we all come together, in pursuit of the conservation of biodiversity, the protection of the environment. As the government of Santiago, we are also present with the entire network of Nature Centers, protecting our natural spaces through the prevention of forest fires,” Fabry highlighted.

In addition, the Minister of Environment, Maysa Rojas, the Seremi of Environment, Sonia Reyes, and the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, visited the fairhighlighting the importance of the event and the government’s commitment to environmental education.
