UN warns of pandemic: –

Covid-19 now has killed over four million people worldwide, according to coronatall from Johns Hopkins University. A global race between vaccines and ever new mutations of the virus is now taking place.

That is why the UN is now warning about what the future may look like for the world – with more mutations and more deaths.

– The pandemic is clearly far from over. More than half of the victims (for the pandemic, editor’s note) have died this year, writes UN in a statement.

The total number of people who have lost their lives is about the same number of people killed in wars around the world since 1982, according to figures from Department of Peace Research in Oslo (PRIO).

– Many several millions are in danger if the virus is allowed to spread like wildfire, writes the UN.

– The more it spreads, the more variants we see – variants that are more contagious, more deadly and more likely to undermine the effectiveness of the current vaccines, writes the UN.

– A dangerous point

The WHO also warns not to underestimate the danger of the delta variant. At the same time, he calls for a greater willingness to fight the pandemic.

– The world is at a dangerous point in this pandemic. We have just passed the tragic limit of 4 million registered covid-19 deaths, which in all probability is an underestimation of the actual death toll, says WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

WHO crisis chief Mike Ryan strongly warns against premature reopening.

– Now extreme caution must be exercised, he says.

Giverland has only contributed half of what the WHO has requested for vaccines, treatment and equipment for use in the fight against the pandemic, and according to Tedros, the organization now lacks NOK 146 billion.

– The countries that are now opening up their societies are those that, by and large, have control over the supply of equipment, tests and vaccines. Countries without such opportunities are facing waves of hospitalizations and deaths, the WHO chief said on Tuesday.

Reopening of England

In recent weeks, the delta variant has triggered an alarm all over the world. The variant has spread rapidly, also in countries that have come a long way with the vaccination, such as the United Kingdom and Israel.

Earlier this week, the British authorities registered more than 30,000 new cases in one day for the first time since January. Despite the fact that the UK has had a contagion jump in recent weeks, they are in full swing to open later in July.

Britain is now receiving strong criticism from several infection experts, who say that England is moving too fast with the reopening of the country, according to The Guardian.

However, not all countries in the world have come as far with vaccination. In several poor countries they have not received the same number of vaccine doses, as several countries in the West.

Therefore, the UN believes that the only way we can get out of the global pandemic is for the world to come together on a global vaccine plan.

The UN believes that it should at least double the production of vaccines, and ensure a fair distribution.

– Global recovery requires global vaccination. The tragic loss of four million people to this pandemic must be the driving force behind our efforts to end it for all, everywhere, the UN urges in the statement.
