Guterres called for “dispelling the cloud of nuclear conflict” on the occasion of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
About 14,000 nuclear weapons are stored around the world, and humanity is close to nuclear annihilation. This was announced by UN Gensek Antonio Guterres on the occasion of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, which is celebrated on 26 September.
“Humanity is still unacceptably close to nuclear destruction. The time has come to dissipate the cloud of nuclear conflict, destroy nuclear weapons in the world, open a new era of trust and peace,” – wrote Guterres in his microblog on Twitter.
On the eve of the former Chinese ambassador to the UN Sha Zukang said that Beijing should be ready strike first against the backdrop of the formation of a new military bloc of the United States, Britain and Australia. As part of the agreement between the countries, the Australians will receive nuclear boats. China has previously stated that this fact is intensifying the nuclear race.
