Earlier, Ukrainian authorities said on Saturday (23/7) that the missile Russia has hit the port of Odesa, the main terminal Black Sea. This attack comes just one day after Russia and Ukraine signed a deal to resume grain exports from the Black Sea.
“The enemy attacked the Odesa seaport with Kalibr cruise missiles. Two missiles were shot down by air defenses. Two missiles hit the port infrastructure,” Sergiy Bratchuk, Odessa region representative said in a statement on social media as reported by the news agency. AFPSaturday (23/7/2022).
After the attack, Ukrainian authorities criticized the Kremlin and said Moscow was responsible for any food crisis if a deal to export Ukrainian grain from Odesa failed after Russian missiles hit the Black Sea port.
“The Russian missile was (Russian President) Vladimir Putin’s spit into the face of the UN Secretary-General Anthony Guterres and Turkish President Recep (Tayyip) Erdogan, who made great efforts to reach an agreement,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said.
“If the agreement reached is not fulfilled, Russia will take full responsibility for exacerbating the global food crisis,” he said.
