UN Secretary General Condemns Violations of Humanitarian Law in Gaza and Denial of Visa to UN Official

Israel has already denied a visa to the head of UN humanitarian operations, Martin Griffiths.

Guterres said at the UN Security Council session on Tuesday that international humanitarian rights are being violated and collective punishment is being implemented in the Gaza Strip, which Israel continues to bombard since the Palestinian group “Hamas” invaded southern Israel on October 7.

“I am deeply disturbed by the blatant violations of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing in Gaza,” the UN Secretary General admitted at the UN Security Council session.

“I say it clearly – no party to an armed conflict is above international humanitarian law,” Guterres said.

Guterres condemned the October 7 attack by Hamas, but said it did not happen “in a vacuum”.

“The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their land steadily devoured [ebreju] settlements and violence befalls them, their economies are stifled, their people displaced and their homes demolished. Hopes for a political solution to their suffering are fading,” Guterres said.

“However, the resentment of the Palestinian people cannot justify the horrific attacks by Hamas. And these horrific attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people,” Guterres said.
