UN Resolution on Ceasefire in Gaza Strip Leading to Increased Isolation of US and Israel

SERAMBINEWS.COM – The United States (US) and Israel are increasingly being ostracized by the world, because many countries have decided to support the United Nations (UN) resolution regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In fact, US allies such as Australia, Canada and Japan have now chosen to call for a ceasefire.

Reporting from TASS citing the well-known US newspaper, Washington Post, US allies decided to change their attitude because the number of civilians killed in Gaza was increasing.

Apart from that, there have been many protests from the public regarding the war in Gaza.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (12/12/2023), the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution initiated by Egypt and Mauritania regarding a ceasefire in Gaza.

A total of 153 countries supported the resolution. Meanwhile, 10 countries, including Israel and the US, rejected it.

Then, there were 23 countries that chose to abstain, one of which was England.

On the other hand, the UN General Assembly decided to reject the amendment initiated by the US. It contains criticism of Hamas’ actions.

The UN body also rejected amendments initiated by Austria regarding Hamas hostages and other groups.

US relations with Israel are reportedly starting to crack due to disagreements between the two.

Previously, US President Joe Biden warned that Israel was now starting to lose support for its military operations against Hamas.
