The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution of Arab countries calling for an immediate truce in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, transmits RIA News. 120 countries voted for the resolution, 14 were against, and 45 abstained.
The text of the resolution calls for an immediate, reliable, sustainable humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities and “the immediate, unconditional release of civilians unlawfully held captive.”
The UN also demands immediate, sustained and unhindered delivery of necessary goods and services in the Gaza Strip.
Let us recall that on October 25, the UN Security Council did not adopt the Russian draft resolution on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The text of the Russian draft, in particular, condemned the Hamas attack, calls for an immediate ceasefire, the creation of humanitarian corridors and the release of all hostages.
Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, then said that Russia supports the draft resolution on the Middle East submitted to the UN General Assembly by a group of Arab countries. The Russian Federation was among its co-authors, the diplomat said.
