UN experts say that the death of captive Khader Adnan is a tragic testimony to the cruel and inhumane Israeli detention policy and practices.
UN experts said the death of the prisoner, Khader Adnan, is a “tragic testimony” to Israel’s cruel and inhumane detention policy and practices, as well as the failure of the international community to hold Israel accountable in the face of the cruel and illegal acts being committed against Palestinian prisoners.
A statement by the experts, issued in Geneva, stated that despite the serious deterioration in Adnan’s health, the occupation authorities refused to release him or transfer him to the hospital and continued to detain him, in the prison hospital facility, without providing him with adequate health care.
The UN experts indicated that the prisoner, Adnan, was arrested at least 12 times in the past, and spent about eight years in prison, most of which were under administrative detention. He also went on hunger strike five times.
The UN experts said that “we cannot separate Israel’s physical policies from the colonial nature of its occupation, which aims to control and subjugate all Palestinians in the territories that Israel wants to control.”
They added that the systematic practice of administrative detention amounts to a “war crime” and consists in deliberately denying protected persons the rights to a fair and regular trial, and concluded the statement by asking: “How many lives must be lost before an inch of justice can be served in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.” ?”
Yesterday morning, the Islamic Jihad Movement announced the death of the prisoner, Khader Adnan, inside the Israeli occupation prisons.
The death of the prisoner, who has been on hunger strike for nearly 3 months in protest of his arrest, came two days after the Israeli military court in Ofer Prison refused to release him, despite his health condition, which reached a very critical stage at the time.
It is noteworthy that the occupation forces arrested the prisoner Adnan on February 5, after raiding his house in the town of Arraba, south of Jenin.
