Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United Nations (UN) issued a warning to Israel because the land and air attacks launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip on Friday (27/10/2023) night had paralyzed communication access in the area.
Not only that, hundreds of buildings and houses have been razed to the ground. Many residents cannot find out the whereabouts of their relatives and family.
UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, opened his voice and condemned Israel’s actions via his personal Instagram account. According to him, the fact that the international community has reached a consensus for a ceasefire should provide momentum for a momentary ‘pause’.
“Unfortunately, instead of stopping for a moment, I was shocked by the unprecedented increase in bombing and its devastating impact, thereby undermining humanitarian goals,” he said on his personal Instagram account, quoted Saturday (4/11/2023).
Previously, on Friday (27/10/2023), 120 countries agreed that Israel and Hamas would carry out a humanitarian ceasefire. A total of 14 countries rejected this, including the United States and Israel.
“I repeat my strong call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, along with the unconditional release of hostages and the delivery of humanitarian aid at a level appropriate to the needs of the people in Gaza, where a humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding before our eyes,” Guterres added.
Finally, Guterres said that the current situation must be reversed. According to him, in the end history will judge our actions.
“This is a real moment. Everyone must assume their responsibility. History will judge us all,” he stressed.
