Secretary General United Nations (PBB) Antonio Guterres calls for an “independent and credible investigation” into the deaths of 115 Gazans during a humanitarian aid raid, in an incident involving brutal shooting by troops Israel.

As reported by the news agency Anadolu News Agency and ReutersSaturday (2/3/2024), Guterres said he was “shocked” when he learned about the latest chapter in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza Strip the.

The latest report from Gaza health authorities said the death toll in the incident on Thursday (29/2) local time had increased to 115 people, with more than 750 other people injured.

“I was shocked to learn that, in another episode of the war in Gaza, 100 people who were queuing to receive humanitarian aid were killed,” Guterres said while speaking in St Vincent and the Grenadines ahead of a regional meeting on the southern Caribbean nation.

“I think a situation like this requires an effective independent investigation to detect how it happened and who is responsible,” he said.

Guterres’ call for an independent investigation was reiterated by his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, when asked about the incident of raiding humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip at a press conference on Friday (1/3) local time.

“The Secretary General himself said yesterday that there needs to be an independent and credible investigation into what happened,” he stressed.

Dujarric added that there needed to be “accountability for everything that has happened since October 7.”
