According to the United Nations, the nuclear conflict is now “out of reach”.
The United Nations does not rule out that Russia is capable of applying nuclear weapon in Ukraine. Its use is considered “to the extent possible”.
Ramesh Rajasingham, Head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), made this statement during a recent speeches.
“The prospect of nuclear conflict, once unthinkable, is now within the realm of possibility again,” he said.
Rajasingham also noted Ukraine’s other problems due to the war. These include destroyed homes, hospitals and educational institutions, lack of water, food, medicine and access to electricity, 12 million displaced people.
Separately, Rajasingham singled out the rise in the price of fuel and food products around the world. This is also the result of the war, because logistics chains were broken. Russia still blocks the ports and does not allow Ukrainian grain to be taken out.
“All this hits the poorest (powers – UNIAN.) the most, increasing suffering and laying the sprout of further political instability and unrest around the world, with a direct impact on the protection of the civilian population,” Rajasingham summed up.
The threat of a nuclear strike: what is known
