Finally, the residents of the beautiful Emirate of Umm Al Quwain have a stage on which they hold theatrical performances and rehearsals, graduation parties, school competitions, Holy Quran competitions, and other cultural and academic events that the city is thirsty for. The old theater no longer exists, and the cultural center built by the Ministry of Culture no longer includes a stage.
The new theater is affiliated with the Umm Al Quwain National Theater, and is located opposite Khalifa Hospital in the Al Qarain area. It is an elegant and beautiful building and is managed with great love by the troupe’s management. The one behind this dream that came true for Umm Al Quwain theatricians is the distinguished Emirati artist Saeed Salem, who did not hesitate to have His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in responding to his request to finance construction. This is not surprising to His Highness, as he is the “Godfather of Arab Theater,” and something from his legacy is not surprising.
The construction journey was not easy, but nothing was difficult for the son of Umm Al Quwain, who used to walk seven kilometers to primary school. During his military service in Abu Dhabi, he used to drive six hours a day back and forth from Abu Dhabi to his city in order to participate in Umm Theater rehearsals. Al-Quwain, who is one of its founders, and we cannot fail to mention that he has been passionate about art since his childhood, as his father is one of the founders of the popular arts group there.
“Bourbi” gave a lot of his life and energy to art and culture, and he had bright stations in his life, and after his military career he devoted his time to national cultural and artistic giving, and he gave many opportunities to the youth of the Emirates through the works that he managed the production of, and the works that he produced later, and he is one of the Emirati artists. The few who performed a theatrical performance in front of the late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul. He is the first Emirati artist to have membership in the popular theater in Kuwait, and no one forgets his role in the Al-Hayala series, which is considered a landmark in Gulf comedy.
Personalities like the artist Saeed Salem are a national treasure, and we are fortunate to have them in our era. With their great efforts, they were able to pave the way for the next generation and facilitate and shorten long distances in their artistic journey through the effort they made and the perseverance they enjoyed and endurance to all difficult circumstances in order to support the wheel of Emirati art. . There are very few who play this major role in the cultural field, and who embrace art as a national issue and not just from an individual angle, and everyone today is awaiting the official opening of the Umm Al Quwain National Theater building in celebration of this edifice. It is worth noting that this is the only band that has its own stage.
