Uniform quality standards in the entire supply area, complete accessibility and the credo rail before road are the core objectives in the draft of the local transport plan of the Freiburg Regional Transport Association (ZRF). For Umkirch, following the rail primacy, it is planned to take the VAG bus line 31, which previously connects the community with the Freiburg-Paduaallee tram stop, to the Gottenheim train station in the future, but to connect Umkirch with an additional bus to the train station in Hugstetten. the initial situation
Wolfgang Lederle, head of the local public transport department at the district office, first informed the local council about the purpose of the new local transport planning. For over a year he has been in charge of the ZRF’s draft local transport plan, the merger of the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen districts and the city of Freiburg.
As early as 1997 it was decided to “adapt the bus services to the new situation” with the completion of the Breisgau-S-Bahn 2020 project. This means connecting municipalities that are not on the rails with appropriate bus routes.
