UMC Utrecht is closely involved in the start-up of Ecraid (European Clinical Research Alliance on Infectious Diseases), a new non-profit organization that conducts clinical research into infectious diseases for both public and private sponsors, UMC Utrecht reports.

UMC Utrecht is one of eighteen partners in Extreme† The university hospital is responsible for the hospital network. A network consisting of more than 1,000 hospital locations in more than 40 European countries. Professor of molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases at UMC Utrecht Marc Bonten has been appointed CEO of Ecraid.
Cooperation
In fact, a lack of international cooperation leads to fragmentation of research efforts, inefficient use of scarce research resources and an insufficient effect on the control of infectious diseases. Ecaid will fix this problem. Ecraid’s clinical research network also includes primary care practices, hospital facilities, pediatric care facilities, clinical labs, and long-term care facilities.
