The cinema summer in Zeil this year had a lot of bad luck with the weather. Again and again rain and especially cool temperatures in the evening kept some potential spectators from visiting the five-day event. After all, almost 50 music enthusiasts did not let themselves be deterred from enjoying music and movies in the tax office garden, at least on Thursday. The Zeil cinema owner Bruno Schneyer did not hesitate and set up a pavilion as rain protection. Other visitors were armed with umbrellas from the start and so defied the weather. Contrary to the predictions, the initial heavy rain was even followed by dry sections.
With “Bohemian Rhapsody”, among other things, a movie from 2018 was on the program. This biographical drama, which tells the story of Freddie Mercury from forming the band Queen to appearing on Live Aid six years before his death, won four Academy Awards. With gross revenues of over $ 900 million worldwide, the film is the most financially successful biopic to date and still casts a spell on viewers today.
There was also the finest music in the opening act. A cooperation between musicians from Nuremberg and the Haßberge district, who have come together in the band “Session X”, ensured the perfect mood for the film with soul, pop and rock. The band is no stranger to the home district, because the musicians Klaus Neubert, Sophie Weinberger, Tobias Hümpfner, John Marshall, Gerald Haussner and Norbert Schöppa created a splendid atmosphere together at the Zeil Old Town Wine Festival 2019. “We can finally play again,” said a delighted Klaus Neubert. This was only the second public appearance for the thoroughbred musicians since the beginning of the corona pandemic.
“We want the audience to finally be able to experience something again,” said Bruno Schneyer, who has been organizing more open-air cinema events since last year. At his side is Mario Pfaff, who, with his one-man company MAD Event Technology, provides light, sound and images.
That was far from all
The two organizers are hoping for better weather for the next two outdoor cinema experience events (see info box). The cinema summer in the Dr. Heigel in Zeil.
