Umberto Louzer dismissed as Guarani coach after third consecutive defeat in Campeonato Paulista

Umberto Louzer is no longer a coach Guarani. His second spell at the helm of Bugre ended after their third consecutive defeat in the Campeonato Paulista.

Bugre conceded a goal in the 51st minute of the second half and lost 1-0 to Inter de Limeira on Thursday night, at Brinco de Ouro.

Umberto even gave a press conference after the game, but was informed of the board’s decision to change command this Friday. Now the club is looking for a new coach for the final half of the first phase of the state championship.

In addition to the coach, Bugre confirmed the dismissal of assistant Ricardo Chuva and physical trainer Marcelo Rohling. Rodrigo Leitão and Alexandre Penna, permanent assistants at the house, are responsible for preparing the team to face Novorizontino, on Monday, at 9pm, away from home, until Louzer’s replacement is determined.

With four points out of a possible 18, Bugre appears at the bottom of Group B (five points behind rival Ponte, currently in second place) and close to the relegation zone in the general classification – Corinthians leads the way, with three points.

From June 2023, when he took office, until his dismissal, Umberto led the team in 32 matches, with 12 wins, nine draws and eleven defeats – a success rate of just over 48%.

He had a good start, with six wins in the first eight games, taking Bugre to second place in Series B, but the team lost steam in the final stretch and fell out of contention for access.

The start of 2024 also left something to be desired. On the field, Bugre had one win, one draw and four defeats in six games for Paulista. Outside the field, the coach had a problem with Régis during the pre-season and left the midfielder off the list of participants in the initial rounds.

Also counting his work in 2018, when he was champion of the Paulista Series A2, Umberto played 86 games under Bugrino’s command. He is the second coach with the most games for Guarani in the century, behind only Oswaldo Alvarez, known as Vadão, with 150.
